Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are chemical solutions to smooth and improve the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. Chemical peels have been in use for a number of years and are a very popular way to improve the texture and look of the skin. There are a wide variety of peels available, each with its own unique benefits. Depending on the skin issue, the correct peel will be chosen for your individual needs. It is common to experience some temporary flaking or scaling, and some redness and dryness as well.
Chemical peels are used to soften acne scars and even control acne as well as treat fine wrinkling, uneven pigmentation, and give the skin a smoother, brighter-looking skin.
Some peels are considered a lighter peel depending on the acid used and the strength. These peels will produce some flaking and dander and speed up the cellular turnover. There is little to no down time but the results are also not as dramatic. Medium depth peels have a stronger concentration of acid and the peeling will be more extreme as will the result. There are also deep peels for more pronounced facial wrinkling and damaged skin due to sun exposure.
What is important to remember with any peel is to where a UVA/UVB broad spectrum sunscreen during and after the process. You can actually cause more damage to the skin after a peel if the skin is not properly protected.
